Key Highlights
Specialised Gastroenterology Services
A complete spectrum of systemic and surgical care — personalised to each patient's needs.
A minimally invasive procedure using a thin, flexible camera (endoscope) inserted through the mouth to directly visualise and photograph the lining of the oesophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine (duodenum). Biopsies can be taken during the same procedure.
Conditions Explained
Conditions We Commonly Treat
GERD occurs when stomach acid regularly flows back into the oesophagus, irritating its lining. It is one of the most common GI conditions worldwide — caused by a weakened or dysfunctional lower oesophageal sphincter, often worsened by obesity, spicy food, smoking, and lying down after meals.
Heartburn (burning sensation rising from the stomach to the chest), regurgitation of acid or food, chest pain, chronic cough, hoarseness, throat clearing, and — in severe cases — difficulty swallowing. Symptoms typically worsen after meals and when lying down.
Lifestyle modification and dietary changes. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) for acid suppression. Endoscopy to assess the oesophageal lining and exclude Barrett's oesophagus. 24-hour pH monitoring to confirm GERD and guide therapy. Anti-reflux procedures for refractory cases.
