Stable angina occurs when the coronary arteries narrow due to a build-up of fatty plaque. During exertion, when the heart demands more blood, the narrowed artery cannot keep up — causing chest discomfort.
Chest tightness, pressure, or heaviness in the centre of the chest, often spreading to the left arm, jaw, or shoulder. Typically lasts a few minutes and resolves with rest or a nitrate spray.
ECG, echocardiography, and stress testing to assess severity. Depending on findings: antianginal medications, risk factor modification, coronary angiography, and angioplasty or bypass surgery if needed.

128 Slice CT for high-speed cardiac CT angiography and detailed coronary anatomy assessment. 3T MRI for myocardial viability, cardiomyopathy evaluation, and complex structural analysis — enabling accurate disease mapping without invasive procedures.
2D/3D echocardiography with Doppler for real-time assessment of chambers, valves, pericardium, and ejection fraction. Treadmill stress testing (TMT) and stress echocardiography to reveal ischaemic segments under exercise or pharmacological stress.
12-lead ECG, Holter monitoring (24–48 hrs), and ambulatory blood pressure recording for detection of intermittent arrhythmias. Electrophysiology studies to map the heart's electrical system. High-sensitivity Troponin, BNP/NT-proBNP, lipid profile, and thyroid function tests.

Coronary angiography is not painful. It is performed under local anaesthesia — you will be awake throughout the procedure. You may feel a brief sting when the local anaesthetic is injected at the wrist, and a warm flushing sensation when contrast dye is injected. The procedure typically takes 30–60 minutes and most patients go home the same day.
Many conditions can be treated using minimally invasive catheter-based procedures — including blocked coronary arteries (angioplasty and stenting), certain arrhythmias (radiofrequency ablation), mitral stenosis (balloon valvotomy), and slow heart rhythms (pacemaker implantation).
